The Royal Triyamphawai Tripawai Ceremony (January – February)

The Royal Triyamphawai Tripawai Ceremony

(January – February)

Originated from Brahmin tradition, the royal ceremony was held to welcome and send god Shiva, as well as his companion, Narayana, upon their annual visit to the earth. Divided in two parts, the first part was the food offering ceremony taken place at the Brahmin Chapel. The second part was the procession and the Swing Ceremony held at the front of Wat Suthat.

Presently, the Royal Triyamphawai Tripawai Ceremony alone is still performed under the royal patronage, but the Swing Ceremony had been discontinued since 1932.
