Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall therefore geared towards the opening of two new exhibitions – “The Colorful Thai Wayof Living” and “The Heart and Soul of the Nation”.

     

The Crown Property Bureau was pleased to welcome more than 100,000 visitors in Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall last year.  The Bureau therefore geared towards the opening of two new exhibitions – “The Colorful Thai Wayof Living” and “The Heart and Soul of the Nation”. The debut of nine rooms will take place on June 26, 2011.  As the special gift, two new rooms are pre-open on June 25, 2011to the public for free of charge.

Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall, under the supervision of The Crown Property Bureau, is a fount of novel form of education and knowledge, an interactive self learning center, as well as a venue where invaluable pieces of academic information on history, arts, and culture in regard to Siamese Rattanakosin era, wishing Thai people, especially in young generation, to appreciate and feel proud of Thai heritage inherited from the ancestors.  Located on Ratchadamnoen Road, it will be a new tourist attraction.  The full service of nine exhibition halls will be available for the public and foreigners from June 26, 2011, onward.

            The Colorful Thai Way of Living Hall displays Thai way of life in every period of Rattanakosin via multi-touch screen, educational games on Thai tradition and beliefs as well as enjoyable interactive light and sound performance.  More importantly, new presentation is introduced, starting from boat trip to see Thai way of life.  Then, visitors can enjoy sightseeing trams along the Chareonkrung Road, which is the first street in Siam, to see various stores.  They can swing and sway on the dance floor and visit shops in the 60s, such as making hair style at Lom Choe Kaysa, trying the vintage outfit at Nual-Anong Boutique, and being models on the cover of magazine at Aksorn Siam,  before taking BTS sky train back home and realizing  “where the true happiness of each person lie”.

          The Heart and Soul of the NationHall gathers stories and the royal activities of nine kings in Chakri Dynasty since the beginning of Rattanakosin.  After the presentation in exquisite light, sound, and colors, visitors will deeply appreciate the great mercy the kings have for their subject.  Furthermore, to celebrate the 84th anniversary of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej, visitors can take their photos and record their words from the heart on multi-touch screen to express their loyalty to the beloved king.  Every single photo and message will appear on screen, taking turn with the ones of artists, actors, singers and celebrities at the back of the room.

Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall consists of seven rooms - Grandeur Rattanakosin Room, Prestige of the Kingdom Room , Remarkable Entertainment Room, Renowned Ceremonies Room), Graceful Architectures, Impressive Communities and Sight-seeing Highlights.  Every rooms features the background of Rattanakosin, the construction of RoyalPalace, city and temple,Thai performances and royal ceremonies.  All maintain Thai tradition and beliefs.  Visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of palaces, temples and traditional houses in each period of Rattanakosin while admiring handicrafts of 12 communities in RattanakosinIsland. Moreover, they can enjoy travelling around the island via the animation, with their simulated cartoon character.

To explore the first seven rooms, visitors should spend at least one hour and 45 minutes (route 1), which is available. For two new rooms (route 2), they should spend at least one and a half hour.  Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall is located on Ratchadamnoen Road, next to Mahajesadabodintr Pavilion Court.  It is open daily, except Monday.  During Tuesday and Friday, the operating hour is from 11 a.m.to 8 p.m.  During weekends, the operating hour is from 10 a.m.to 8 p.m.(The last show time is 6:20 p.m.)  The fee is 100 baht/adult, both Thais and foreigners.  It is free of charge for children (no taller than 120 cm.), uniformed students or students with ID card, monks, novices, the disables and the elders (aged over 60 and presenting ID card).  For 100-baht tickets, visitors can choose to visit either both routes or one of them.  

            Furthermore, Rattanakosin Library located on the mezzanine floor of the building collects rare and valuable books as well as learning media about Rattanakosin.  Visitors and members can also attend interesting activities that are monthly held, such as special talks, music battle: E Saewv.s. R&B between “R&B artists, Golf Sing Nua” and “Mae Kwanjit Sriprajan - National artist under the category of folk songs”.  Both of them also educated audience on two styles of music in two periods on June 12.  The public interested in the activities can apply for a library membership, which costs 100 baht per year.  For non-members, they can pay 20 baht as a daily fee.  Uniformed students or students who present the ID card, monks, novices, the disables and the elders can use the service for free.
